20260928 SSOMA Press Statement Constitutional Coup detat
SSOMA condemns what it describes as President Salva Kiir’s constitutional coup, following the dissolution of the Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity and establishment of a caretaker administration. The Alliance calls for urgent national and international consultations and a new, genuine and inclusive comprehensive peace process to address the root causes of South Sudan’s conflict. SSOMA also rejects the planned elections and ongoing inter-party dialogue, warning that failure to resolve the crisis through an inclusive political process could deepen insecurity, humanitarian suffering and national instability.
