20260425 - Good Shepherd homily Bishop Santo

In his Good Shepherd Sunday homily delivered in the presence of President Salva Kiir, Bishop Santo called on South Sudan's leaders to repent for their failures โ€” naming bad shepherds who commit atrocities, drive citizens to suicide, and tell hungry people to eat reptiles and frogs. Drawing on the Gospel image of the shepherd who gives his life for his flock, the bishop contrasted Christ's model of servant leadership โ€” feeding the hungry, healing the sick, protecting the weak โ€” with leaders who are selfish, careless, and greedy. He urged all leaders, from fathers and mothers to heads of state, to give life to their people rather than add to their suffering. "Our leaders need to repent for what has been done to this nation," he said.
