Gen. Faiz Ismail Fatur appointed Deputy Chairman
In a strategic move to strengthen its leadership structure, the National Salvation Front (NAS) has announced the relieving of Gen. Faiz Ismail Fatur from his role as Chief of Staff of the NAS Army. Simultaneously, Gen. Faiz Ismail Fatur has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the revolutionary movement.
Gen. Faiz Ismail Fatur joined NAS in March 2017 after resigning from Dr. Riek Machar’s SPLM-IO. In a highly publicised resignation letter, Gen Faiz mentioned several reasons including “lack of effective organizational systems, well-articulated vision, and proactive leadership” necessary to challenge the regime of Kiir.Β
In April 2017, Gen. Faiz was entrusted with the position of NAS Army Chief of Staff, a role he successfully fulfilled with diligence and commitment.
In the official letter announcing the transition, NAS Chairman Gen. Thomas Cirillo expressed his gratitude to Gen. Faiz for his dedicated service.
“I sincerely thank you and commend you for your service, diligence, and commitment in leading NAS/Army since its launching. I wish you success in advancing the vision, mission, and objectives of NAS revolution in your next engagement,” said the Chairman.
With this change, Gen. Faiz Ismail Fatur assumes the role of Deputy Chairman of the National Salvation Front (NAS). In his new capacity, he shall, without a doubt, carry forward the revolutionary mission with renewed zeal and resilience.
“I cordially congratulate you on this appointment in recognition of your diligence and commitment to work for the salvation of the people of South Sudan and wish you success in advancing the vision, mission, and objectives of NAS,” added Gen. Thomas.
Gen. Faiz’s experience and dedication position him as a valuable asset in his new role as Deputy Chairman, contributing to the continued advancement of NAS’s vision for a liberated and prosperous South Sudan.
