NAS marks 7th anniversary with global applause: leaders and supporter echo ‘aluta continua’ til the end

In a celebration marked by congratulatory messages from various leaders and representatives of local and international institutions, the National Salvation Front (NAS) commemorates its 7th anniversary under the theme “Forward with a renewed momentum and resilience.”

Ambassador Emmanuel Ajawin, leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM/PF), Rejab Mohandis of the Peoples’ Coalition for Civil Action (PCCA), and other opposition leaders both within and outside the country were quick to extend their wishes and unwavering support, echoing revolutionary sentiments for positive change in South Sudan.

We honor and salute the fallen heroes who have cemented the people’s revolution with their precious souls

Ambassador Emmanuel Ajawin, representing the NDM/PF, expressed, “…I take this opportunity to convey our revolutionary greetings to the gallant compatriots of NAS under the able leadership of Gen. Thomas Cirillo and to congratulate them on the seventh anniversary of the establishment of NAS. We honor and salute the fallen heroes who have cemented the people’s revolution with their precious souls for the second liberation of South Sudan from the dictatorial regime of Kiir Mayardit.”

Rejab Mohandis of the PCCA shared his perspective, stating, “…the path to freedom may be long, frustrating, and costly, but I am hopeful; one day, our people will enjoy the fruits of peace paid for by the precious blood of the compatriots who sacrificed under the flag of the National Salvation Front – Aluta continua!”

Encrypted messages from friends and sympathizers also poured in, with one local from Juba expressing, “May NAS continue the difficult but necessary struggle to restore the unity and the dignity of our people who continue to suffer… [You] are our only hope…”

A leader representing a signatory to the faltering peace agreement encouraged NAS for holding out and continuing to do the right thing, stating, “…I speak out of experience that NAS is on the right path… I would like to express my sincere appreciation of what NAS continues to stand for, and I wish you [the leadership] to continue to carry that torch of freedom.”

The prevailing theme in these messages from friends and sympathizers was one of resilience and steadfastness until the end. In the words of Ambassador Ajawin, “[The people’s] struggle will continue for justice, equality, freedom, and the establishment of the Democratic Federal Republic of South Sudan. Aluta continua!”
