On March 26, 2025, NAS forces repulsed an SSPDF assault and pursued the retreating government troops to their New Site outpost near former Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga’s residence in Lobonok. NAS fighters overran the outpost, seized weapons, and destroyed the enemy base. The operation reinforced NAS’s defensive stance against SSPDF aggression.
On March 25, 2025, NAS forces, led by Major Alfred Lujang Thomas, launched a counter-offensive in Kansuk, Kajo Keji County. The operation resulted in the deaths of 12 SSPDF soldiers, the capture of eight Kalashnikov rifles, and the destruction of an SSPDF detachment. During a later operation in Gederu, NAS forces were ambushed, leading to the loss of Major Thomas and three NAS fighters. Three civilians were also killed after being used as human shields by SSPDF.

The operation comes as NAS marks its eighth anniversary, with leadership dedicating the triumph to the movement’s members and martyrs.
Gen. Thomas Cirillo Swaka, Chairman of NAS, delivered a speech marking the movement's 8th anniversary. He reaffirmed NAS’s commitment to genuine peace, condemned the Juba regime’s role in ethnic conflicts and economic mismanagement, and called for a Round-table Conference to address the root causes of South Sudan's crisis. He outlined NAS’s vision, including security sector reform, economic transformation, and constitutional change, urging South Sudanese to resist oppression and work towards a just and inclusive future.
The National Salvation Front (NAS) has condemned recent military attacks by South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and allied militias on civilians in Upper Nile, Western Equatoria, and Western Bahr el Ghazal states. NAS accuses the government of ethnic targeting and fueling communal violence under the guise of security operations. The group warns that these attacks are part of a broader political strategy by President Salva Kiir to consolidate power, likening the situation to the 2013 and 2016 massacres. NAS urges South Sudanese citizens, humanitarian organizations, and the international community to intervene and hold the government accountable.
On Feb. 9, NAS forces in Kajo-Keji County successfully repelled an SSPDF attack, overrunning the Jalimo detachment base. The base had been used as an SSPDF operational hub against NAS positions. During the operation, NAS forces killed four SSPDF soldiers and seized weapons, including PKM machine guns, RPGs, and ammunition. NAS denied allegations circulating on social media that its forces burned homes and displaced civilians, instead accusing SSPDF of retaliating against local villagers. The NAS Military Command praised its forces for the successful operation.
NAS strongly denies allegations of involvement in the Eastern Equatoria attack, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
