Excerpt: "We know that the R-ARCSS is fundamentally flawed. It will not bring the kind of peace our people are desperately needed. The agreement did not address the root causes of the conflict, including injustices, inequalities and hostilities. The agreement was imposed upon the signatories to serve the interests of some regional countries and President Salva Kiirβs regime. Thus, the agreement maintains the status quo in Juba - the failed and corrupt system of Kiirβs government. There is little chance for fundamental reforms to take place under the current leadership, which plunged the country into an avoidable civil war and brought untold suffering upon the people of South Sudan. Yet, IGAD and some members of the international community seem to underestimate these realities. Instead, they are desperately clinging to unworkable peace agreement, which may lead to more violence and displacement."
