Looted relief items spotted at SSPDF Kulipapa base

Relief items looted from this lorry and another were spotted at SSPDF Kulipapa base just hours after the ambush by 'unknown gunmen'

Relief items from a cargo of humanitarian aid meant for the displaced communities in Lainya County, Central Equatoria State have been spotted at an SSPDF base in Kulipapa just hours after two civilian lorries carrying the cargo were stopped, looted, and then burned not too far away from the Kiir’s SSPDF base on August 29.

According to witnesses and a press release issued by the NAS Spokesman Suba Manase, when the looting was ongoing, the military personnel at the Kulipapa base located just a stone-throw away did not show any concern.

“It all made sense when we started to observe some of the items going around the military base and their personnel consuming them or offering to sell them,” said one witness.

This is not news. Since Kiir’s regime openly started violating the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (CoHA) with the National Salvation Front (NAS) that both parties pledged their commitment in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in December 2017 and Rome, Italy in 2020, Kiir’s war on civilians has strategically been tuned to displace them, massacre them, loot and destroy their property and cut-off any assistance, local or foreign that could sustain them.

The convoy consisted of 6 vehicles, four of which were allowed to pass but the last two, hired from Somalia traders, become targets of Kiir’s continuous war on civilians.

What have we done to Salva Kiir… he killed the father of my children, our huts have been destroyed, crops looted and our chickens were stolen. Now our communities and other NGOs are trying to help us and they still take that away from us? Are we not South Sudanese?

Upon hearing that their much need aid was not going to reach them, one displaced widow and mother of 3 orphans lamented “What have we done to Salva Kiir… he killed the father of my children, our huts have been destroyed, crops looted and our chickens were stolen. Now our communities and other NGOs are trying to help us and they still take that away from us? Are we not South Sudanese?”

South Sudan under the regime of Salva Kiir Mayardit has fallen into an abyss of misery that has put the people of South Sudan in a place no one can wish on anyone else.
