In his speech marking the 9th independence anniversary of South Sudan, NAS Chairman Thomas Cirillo urged the people to be "steadfast
and maintain the resilience needed to transform South Sudan into the
country our people struggled for, and aspire to achieve."

He went on to point out that South Sudan - that achieved independence through a popular vote a referendum in 2011 - has been reduced to a global sad story with civil war and multiple government-sponsored inter- and intra-ethnic communal violence raging all over the country.

20200524 NAS Latest Press Release on joint military offensive by SSPDF and SPLA-IO in Mundri West

Press Release on the ongoing joint military offensive by South Sudan Peopleโ€™s Defense Force (SSPDF) and Sudan Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) in Mundri West, Western Equatoria State.

On 23rd May 2020, the SSPDF force accompanied by the elements of SPLA IO attacked NAS mobile base in Mundri West, NAS forces fought back in self-defense and repulsed the attackers.

On another development, as NAS continue to counter SSPDF and SPLA-IO offensive in Western Equatoria State, the National Security Convey traveling to Lakes State, Rumbek fell into NAS ambush in which five (5) government soldiers were killed in action, different assortments of ammunition were recovered and one (1) fuel tanker burnt.

20200520 NAS Latest Press Release On Covid-19 precautions

In a conflict setting where the regime is dysfunctional and the state has failed just like it is in South Sudan, communities and people most often depend on the social support system to face realities. The Leadership of NAS therefore urges the people of South Sudan to use the family support system to fight the spread of the COVID-19 by taking care of themselves as parents and their children. Events such as funerals, weddings and parties should be avoided for now, keep social distancing and wear a mask while in public places.

The National Salvation Front (NAS) has announced that it has effectively defeated and "neutralized the first phase of the joint SSPDF and SPLA IO military offensive", and hope that Kiir and his allies learn that "the futile offensive and the subsequent defeat sends a clear message that military [superiority] will never defeat human desire for freedom and justice."

  • The Leadership of National Salvation Front (NAS) refutes the false allegations made by the SPLA IO Deputy Military Spokesperson, Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, in a statement dated 14th/05/2020, that about eight (8) were abducted by NAS in a road ambush in Kansuk, Kajo-Keji County.
  • According to our sources, these officers were arrested by Gen. Moses Lukujo (SPLA-IO) on 5th April 2020 under the instruction of Gen. Mabieh after protesting the promotion of Gen. Moses Lukujo into the rank of Maj. Gen
  • In essence, the whole issue is about power rivalry within the SPLA IO - internal problem of SPLA IO

  • SSOMA is troubled and very concerned with the ongoing violations of CoHA 2017 by the Juba regime against the positions of SSOMAโ€™s alliance member (NAS), despite the recommitment to the Feb 13 2020 Rome Resolution on CoHA.
  • SSOMA would like to inform the government and the IO, the people of South Sudan and the International Community that any attack on its members is an attack on the SSOMA as a whole.
