“We have totally destroyed South Sudan,” Kuol Manyang, top SPLM official, confesses
One of the highest-ranking SPLM officials, Gen Kuol Manyang, has publicly confessed that their 16 years of administration and rule over South Sudan has been nothing but a total failure as they have “failed to deliver services to the people”, and they did nothing different from what the oppressors and previous Khartoum regimes did to South Sudan and its people.
Kuol Manyang a high-ranking and leading member of the ruling SPLM party was speaking in Bor during a swearing-in ceremony of state officials there.
“Since July 2005, when the government of Southern Sudan was formed…. what did we do from then – 2005 until 2011. What did we do?” he rhetorically asked.
In 2005, as part of a comprehensive agreement that ended the 21 years of civil war in Sudan, the administration of the semi-autonomous Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) was handed over to the SPLM/A, and in 2011 the region broke away in a referendum to become the present of South Sudan.
We did not build schools, we did not build roads, we did not build houses for our people….We did nothing!
“We did not build schools, we did not build roads, we did not build houses for our people, we did not build hospitals, we are not feeding ourselves, but rather depending on relief food from foreign NGOs…”, he confirmed what every living South Sudanese already knew, and selectively omitting to mention the millions of dollars the elite managed to loot and save in foreign banks and their villas in the neighbouring countries.
Gen Kuol Manyang has been serving the regime in several high level and influential positions throughout the 16 years of doom.
According to one observer, Kuol Manyang wants to seem witty by only partially admitting responsibility while omitting the juicy details of a bigger and nastier plot. The people of South Sudan already know how the government failed them. Instead, Kuol Manyang should be confessing about their crimes, their loot, and their tyranny in the 16 years of doom.

“Kuol Manyang and his SPLM comrades should have been confessing about the many hectares of land that they have personally grabbed and forcefully continue to occupy across South Sudan… they should be sorry, confess and ask for forgiveness for the hundreds of thousands of innocent souls that were lost due to man-made conflicts engineered to keep them on the top and in power…. Kuol Manyang and the SPLM should be sorry, confess and ask for forgiveness for the deaths of the many Isaiah Abrahams, the Dong Samuels and the Aggrey Idris that were senselessly butchered to keep them in power…. If he was truly genuine, he should have knelt there, in Bor in front of his people and resigned because he has – over the 16-years – failed them – the people!”.
It is unclear what prompted Kuol Manyang, one of the highest benefactors and defenders of the system, to come out with what sounds like a confession, but many have warned that “nothing these people in power say can be taken seriously”.
“Do not be surprised, they might tell the people ‘we failed you for the past 16 years, please re-elect us for the next 30 years, and some people will believe them!”
