NAS Condemns SSPDF-Linked Massacre of Civilians in Wonduruba

The National Salvation Front (NAS) has condemned the massacre of 10 innocent civilians in Wonduruba Payam, Juba County, Central Equatoria State carried out by forces loyal to the South Sudan Defense Forces (SSPDF) and a militia led by Brigadier Kennedy Kenyi also known as ‘Kenyi Warrior’, with funding provided by Cabinet Minister Martin Elia Lomuro.

According to a statement issued on Sunday through its spokesperson Suba Samuel, the victims, all young boys, were attending a funeral on October 8 when they were arrested and executed by the militia. The reason for the massacre by the SSPDF and its allied forces – NAS has learned – was some kind of retaliation for a military defeat they had recently suffered at the hands of forces under General Kenyi John Loburon.

The SSPDF out of frustration turned against the innocent civilians as a result executing ten (10) young boys in cold blood…

“The massacre was a cold-blooded and mafia-style execution,” the statement read, holding Brig. Kenyi Warior, Cabinet Minister Martin Elia Lomuro, and John Lomeling Kaunda, a South Sudanese-American citizen, accountable for funding and orchestrating the killings.

NAS strongly condemned the killings and urged the people of South Sudan to remain alert to what it described as an illegal regime led by President Salva Kiir, accusing the government of systemic violence, corruption, and brutality against civilians.

The massacre was a cold-blooded and mafia-style execution…

“The regime’s actions continue to demonstrate their disregard for human life and constitutional rights. We must stand united against this tyranny,” NAS said in its statement.

Similarly, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has condemned these crimes, urging the government to take action. It emphasized the need for civilian protection and adherence to international human rights law.

The leadership of NAS called on international bodies to investigate and hold those responsible for the atrocity accountable, reiterating their commitment to defending the dignity and rights of the South Sudanese people.
