Holiday Message: NAS leadership calls for unity and justice in South Sudan

In a heartfelt Christmas and New Year message, The Chairman and C-in-C of the National Salvation Front (NAS) General Thomas Cirillo addressed the people of South Sudan with an uplifting vision of hope and resilience amidst ongoing challenges.

Thomas Cirillo extended warm holiday greetings to all South Sudanese, particularly the gallant NAS forces, families of martyrs, and NAS supporters. โ€œChristmas is a time for reflection on Godโ€™s love and a chance to renew our faith in the values of love, hope, forgiveness, and peace,โ€ he said, urging citizens to embrace these principles to build a nation founded on justice, good governance, and freedom.

While acknowledging the persistent hardships faced by the nation, including economic collapse and widespread human rights violations, the Chairman reassured the people of NASโ€™s steadfast commitment to their liberation. โ€œNAS remains resolute in its mission to salvage South Sudan from tyranny, tribalism, and elite greed,โ€ he declared.

Let us embrace hope, peace, and unity for a free and prosperous South Sudan

General Thomas Cirillo also called on the international community to reassess their support for the current regime in Juba and instead back the aspirations of the South Sudanese people for a peaceful and prosperous future. Highlighting NASโ€™s unwavering pursuit of genuine peace, the Chairman reiterated the movementโ€™s proposal for an inclusive Roundtable Conference to address the root causes of conflict.

In a firm rebuke of the Juba governmentโ€™s abandonment of the Rome peace mediation and the introduction of the Tumaini Initiative, Thomas emphasised that NAS will not support processes aimed at power consolidation. โ€œOnly a genuine, comprehensive, and inclusive peace process can ensure sustainable peace,โ€ he asserted.

As South Sudanese reflect on the yearโ€™s challenges, the wise words of NAS Chairman Thomas Cirillo offer a beacon of hope and a rallying cry for the pursuit of justice and national salvation.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
