NAS General HQ welcomes former SPLA-IO sector commander and colleagues in EES
The Section-Nine commander of Tafing Division of the SPLA-IO in Eastern Equatoria State (EES) Brig-Gen Kennedy Ongie Odong on Saturday 5 December 2020 announced that he, some of his colleagues, and a large number of forces under his command have decided to join the National Salvation Front/Army (NAS).
In a statement obtained by the official NAS website, Brigadier General Odong said that they took this revolutionary step after confirming that the National Salvation Front is the only hope for the people of South Sudan.
“The National Salvation Front (NAS) under the leadership of General Thomas Cirillo Swaka remains the only hope for the people of South Sudan. I urge all to continue the struggle to reach the goals as directed by the able leadership of NAS until the root causes are addressed and the unity and dignity of the people are restored,” he said.

Gen. Faiz Ismail Futur, the Chief of General Staff of the National Salvation Front/Army, welcomed Brig-Gen Kennedy Ongie Odong and his forces on behalf of the NAS leadership. He also congratulated them for their courageous decision and their support for the people at this juncture in the history of the struggle.
Gen. Faiz Ismail Futur stressed that NAS is now the torchbearer of the struggle that started in 1954, and under the banner of NAS that torch will never be extinguished.
Gen. Faiz went on to say at the end of his statement that this year, due to the determination of our people, and the sacrifices of the forces of the National Salvation Front, NAS has made great achievements and progress. He concluded by calling upon the youth to join the ranks and file of the National Salvation Front and work to save our country.
