According to a press release issued on Thursday 09th April – the same date of the attack – the NAS forces were “acting in self-defence” and “to protect the villages and surrounding areas, and send a clear message that NAS will continue to protect civilians under its control”.
The statement listed a series of repetitive violations spanning from early March to the date of the attack. The atrocities include rape, kidnap, looting of livestock, burning and destruction of property and so on.
“NAS will not tolerate such criminal acts,” the statement cautioned.
