The Alliance strongly believes that the wrongful and hasty formation of any new transitional government under the leadership of Salva Kiir Mayardit, and without addressing the fundamental root causes of the conflict is another recipe for a return to full-blown violence in South Sudan; as was witnessed in July 2016 – with the death of over 700 people in the capital, Juba.

The Chief of Staff of the National Salvation Front/Army (NAS) on Tuesday congratulated the freedom fighters, officers and the commanders on the great victories achieved in fighting in self-defence against unprovoked aggressions by the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and its tribal militias.
On Friday, September 6th NAS positions around Yei and Lainya were attacked by the SSPDF and their allied militia. The NAS forces heroically fought back in self-defense, repulsed the attack, pursued the enemy and overran their positions in Bereka and Mukaya. The defeated attackers fled towards Lainya and Yei town in disarray.
Excerpt: “We know that the R-ARCSS is fundamentally flawed. It will not bring the kind of peace our people are desperately needed. The agreement did not address the root causes of the conflict, including injustices, inequalities and hostilities. The agreement was imposed upon the signatories to serve the interests of some regional countries and President Salva Kiirβs regime. Thus, the agreement maintains the status quo in Juba – the failed and corrupt system of Kiirβs government. There is little chance for fundamental reforms to take place under the current leadership, which plunged the country into an avoidable civil war and brought untold suffering upon the people of South Sudan. Yet, IGAD and some members of the international community seem to underestimate these realities. Instead, they are desperately clinging to unworkable peace agreement, which may lead to more violence and displacement.”
“Launching the New Vision of Hope and Transformation in South Sudan” – The Declaration of Principles signed on 30th August 2019 in The Netherlands by the South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA), the Real Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (R-SPLM), and South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A).
On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of August 2019, forces allied to Salva Kiir reinforced with heavy machine guns and artillery launched a series of attacks against NAS positions in Loka West, Lainya and Lo’bonok. The heroic and revolutionary forces of NAS fought back in self-defense and defended their positions.
