Capture of Liwolo military base dedicated as a ‘gift on NAS’s 8th anniversary’

In a historic and decisive counter-offensive, the gallant revolutionary forces of the National Salvation Front (NAS) have crushed the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) in Liwolo Payam, Kajo-Keji County, seizing their detachment base in a resounding victory. The operation, executed with precision and determination, stands as a defining moment in NAS’s ongoing struggle for freedom and justice, with leadership dedicating the triumph to the movement’s members and martyrs.
On March 6, SSPDF forces launched an unprovoked attack on NAS positions in Liwolo. In response, NAS fighters swiftly countered, overrunning the enemy and seizing full control of their base. The SSPDF suffered heavy losses, with seven soldiers killed in action. NAS forces also captured 15 AK-47 rifles, five PKM machine guns, two RPG launchers, and multiple boxes of ammunition.
The victory follows NAS Chairman Gen. Thomas Cirillo’s powerful anniversary address, in which he reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to resisting tyranny and fighting for the dignity of the South Sudanese people. The successful operation in Liwolo demonstrates NAS’s unwavering resolve in the struggle for freedom and justice.
NAS leadership commended the commanders, officers, and soldiers who carried out the operation, describing it as a symbol of the movement’s growing strength.
Civilians in Kajo-Keji and surrounding areas are urged to remain vigilant and, if possible, relocate away from SSPDF positions, including their main base in Mere, Kajo-Keji town, to ensure their safety.
NAS remains committed to a just and lasting peace in South Sudan through genuine negotiations that address the root causes of the conflict. However, it will continue to exercise its right to self-defense against any aggression.
