Eid Al Adha Message: NAS Chairman calls on religious and community leaders to promote a culture of peaceful co-existence

"We (NAS leadership) would like to appeal to our people, religious and community leaders to promote a culture of peaceful co-existence."

In his message congratulating Muslims and the people of South Sudan on the occasion of Eid Al Adha aAl Mubarak, the Chairman and C-in-C of the National Salvation Front (NAS) Gen Thomas Cirillo expressed solidarity with the people who found themselves victims of Kiir’s failed leadership and called on religious and community leaders to promote the culture of peaceful coexistence.

Gen Thomas Cirillo’s message comes in the wake of an increase of government-sponsored inter-communal fightings in various parts of the country that has resulted in the loss of thousands of innocent lives, destruction of property and the displacement of many more.

“…We express our solidarity to our people who were forced to leave their homes and the country and live in harsh conditions in refugee camps, displaced centres for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Protection Sites (POCs) and in bushes in the wilderness – all against their will

“As you celebrate this Eid Al Adha, the National Salvation Front and its leadership are feeling your pains and sufferings that are caused by the failed leadership in the country.

“In particular, we extend our condolences to our brothers and sisters who have lost their loved ones as a result of the war caused by the regime and the on-going communal conflicts in different parts of the country,” read the message in part.

The leadership of the National Salvation Front (NAS) who are trying to restore the unity and dignity of the people of South Sudan went on to call on religious and community leaders to a culture of peaceful co-existence.

“We (NAS leadership) would like to appeal to our people, religious and community leaders to promote a culture of peaceful co-existence.”
